Kebun Raya, a botanical garden that spreads across 87 hectares is located 60 km to the south of central Jakarta. Bogor Botanical Gardens boasts of over 400 species of palm trees, 5,000 trees gathered from around the tropical world, and an orchid house containing 3,000 varieties. The beauty and greenery will leave you mesmerized and a walk around the park will leave you in a state of tranquility.
Adjoining the garden is the magnificent Bogor Palace formerly known as Buitenzorg which was built by the Dutch in 1745. You should also visit the Old Dutch Cemetery which has tombs which are older than the garden!
Don’t miss out on checking out the Lady Raffles Memorial Monument, Teijsman Garden, Orchid House & Orchidarium, Astrid Park, Zoology Museum, The Melchior Treub and Treub Laboratory, The Broken Heart Bridge and Mexican Park.
