Tirta Gangga, literally "Water from the Ganges" is a grand water palace located about 5 km Karangasem, Bali built by the namesake king in 1948. The complex is well-known for its 10 m high eleven-tiered Meru fountain inside, surrounded by numerous koi and lotus ponds and ornate guardian statutes.
Koi Pond- The big fish pond in Tirta Gangga is one of the favourite places for the visitors as they get to see the pond filled with several species of fish. The star of the pond is Koi Fish, which you will get to see the most. The visitors are also allowed to feed the fish in the pond by buying fish food or bread will do too.
Natural Spring- The freshwater in Tirta Gangga is considered to be holy. The water from the spring is used as a source of water for drinking for the whole town of Amlapura. The holy water of this spring is used for religious ceremonies as well.
Swimming Pool- In addition to the stunning sculptures, and fountains, Taman Tirta Gangga has two swimming pools filled with fresh water. Visitors are allowed to enjoy swimming in these pools.
Meditation- The environment around Tirta Gangga makes it a perfect place for meditating. There is a meditator area right after the main gate. There are two dragons statues in the area who are the protectors of the meditator area.
Restaurant- The Tirta Gangga Restaurant is situated at the entrance of the water palace. The restaurant serves classic Balinese fare and the prices are affordable as well. Tirta Ayu Restaurant is well known for its hospitality.
