Batemans Bay is a gorgeous seaside escape found on the South Coast of New South Wales. Relaxing waterside activities can be undertaken here, either at its pristine beaches or on the sparkling Clyde River that flows through the town. The outer rugged coast offers multiple snorkelling opportunities, thus forming the Batemans Bay Snorkeling Trail.
Out on the coast lie the beautiful beaches of Batemans Bay, all sheltered by their own private coves. Maloneys Beach in the north forms the start of the Batemans Bay Snorkelling Trail, with the crescent coves teeming with marine life that is sure to amaze onlookers. On the southern side, Sunshine Bay offers its own blend of pristine beachside beauty with colourful reefs visible through the clear blue waters. In the main town, the beautiful Clyde River offers visitors the option to explore it through river cruises, and the more adventurous travelers can engage in some kayaking along the river. It is also incredibly popular for fishing. The oysters found in this river are famous in the region, and delicious fresh oysters can be enjoyed around the city.
The Clyde River National Park offers as much natural beauty within the estuaries as it does on the land it covers, home to lush forests that may be discovered through the walking tracks that explore the area. The Holmes Lookout offers a beautiful panorama of the town and its surrounding beauty created by the river meeting the ocean. Native wildlife of the area can be encountered at the Birdland Animal Park, where visitors can see popular species such as wombats, koalas and kangaroos. The region’s history, from Aboriginal to European settlement, can be explored at the Batemans Bay Heritage Museum.
