Situated between Bentota beach and Beruwala beach, the Moragalla Beach has a unique and peaceful shore. Though like the other beaches there are clear blue waters and golden white sand, the Moragalla Beach can boast of its tranquil environment. This is one of the reasons that the beach is a retreat for beach lovers who want to bask in the sunny beach with a quiet and secluded environment. The Moragalla Beach is also visited by many water-sports enthusiasts as the beach has shallow waters, the beach is an apt location for water-sports such as snorkelling, windsurfing, etc.
The beach also has a mystical island known as the moragalla dharmadhveepa at a few distances from the shore. The array of greenery creates an illusion of an island, and a mirage for the visitors of the beach. There is also a temple on top of the mystical island. One can easily catch a boat and ride to the temple which is also a site for yoga retreats. There is no difficulty or tough hiking involved to reach the temple; it simple require for one to climb the cement made stairs on the island which lead straight to the temple.
The southern part of the beach, connected to the Bentota River, is also a blissful and a serene site. The river is covered with mangroves and also serves as a perfect tourist spot. The visitors can catch a boat and take a tour of these thick mangroves. If nothing the visitors can just peacefully sit on the warm sand or swim in the cool, blue waters to ward off the stress of monotonous city life.
