Bikaner Camel Festival

The two-day event begins on a large scale with a colourful ceremonial procession followed by an Inauguration and a Recital by the Indian Army. The celebrations also include entertainment performances and several competitions that visitors can actively participate like the Earthen Pot Race, Beauty Pageant Competition (Miss Marwar), Mr Bikaner Competition, Musical Chair, Wrestling, Tug of war etc. Visitors can watch the several programmes scheduled during the day and admire and shop traditional Rajasthani apparel, accessories and artefacts as gifts and souvenirs.

There are food kiosks that serve traditional Rajasthani cuisine making it a perfect event for foodies too. One can find many Rajasthani dishes like Daal Bati Churma, Laal Maas, Mohan Maas, Ker Sangri, Gatte Ki Sabzi, Kadhi, Boondi ka Raita, Bajre ki Roti, Bajre ki Poori, various Rajasthani style Pulao etc. Do not miss the delicious Rajasthani deserts like the Mohanthaal, Besan Barfi, Churma Laddoo, Balushahi, Badam ka Halva, Mawa Kachori, Gujiya, Ghevar etc.

On the occasion of the festival, the camels are dressed in bright and colourful ornaments and bridles. The burst of vibrant colours in the golden dunes is a sight that cannot match any other celebration in the world. Camel rides and camel safaris attract tourists from all over the world. These one of a kind rides over the gold dunes is an experience worth cherishing. The safaris prove to be the best way to explore Bikaner, especially under the evening skies watching the beautiful sunset from the dunes. The festival also has many competitions for the camels and their owners like the Camel dance, Camel decorations, and Camel Fur cutting.

The major attractions of the Camel Festival are the entertainment shows. Bikaner is home to the world-famous traditional Rajasthani art forms. Tourists will find the true sounds of Bikaner in the music here and the authentic expressions of Rajasthan through its Folk Dance and the Puppet Shows. The Fire Dance, in particular, is a big crowd puller for its grandeur and the excitement it builds in the viewers.

The schedule also has recitals by R.A.C and the Indian Army. Food stalls serving delicious authentic Rajasthani dishes also are a big hit at the festival. Non-locals who wish to taste the cuisine of Rajasthan will find almost all the dishes being served here. The event ends with some breathtaking fireworks that are admired by one and all attending the event.
