Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park, covering over 85,000 hectares of native forest and alpine meadows, is one of the largest national parks in Georgia. Located 160 kilometers from Tbilisi, it spans the regions of Imereti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, and Shida Kartli. The administrative and visitor centers are situated in Borjomi and Kharagauli, and the park includes four types of protected areas: Borjomi Nature Reserve, Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park, Nedzvi Managed Reserve, and Goderdzi Fossil Forest Natural Monument. The park provides opportunities for various activities such as hiking, horseback riding, biking, and snowshoeing, as well as cultural and educational tours.
The park, together with the adjacent Borjomi Nature Reserve, totals 851 square kilometers, accounting for more than 1% of Georgia's territory. Tourism in Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park is active year-round, offering a chance to explore its diverse flora and fauna through a network of twelve marked trails. These trails are well-maintained and include tourist shelters, picnic spots, and camping sites. The easiest trail is the National Park Information Trail, a 3-km route starting from the park's administration building in Borjomi, which offers beautiful views of the Borjomi spa-resort and St. Nino Church. This trail takes about ninety minutes to complete and features a 600-meter ascent before leveling out and circling back to the starting point.
