In addition, Uludag mountain, situated 36 kms from Bursa, is a hub for winter sports activities like skiing, ice hockey, cable car rides and paragliding.   • Most people visit Bursa on a day trip from Istanbul. However, to see the real city, stay for at least 1 night
  • Taking a ferry is the most common method of getting to Bursa from Istanbul. To and fro ferries are available throughout the day and take 3 hours for one-way travel. Another common way to travel to and fro between Bursa and Istanbul is via buses.
  • IDO and BUDO ferries are available between Istanbul & Bursa. IDO ferries leave from Yenikapı, Besiktas, and Kadikoy terminals and arrive to Guzelyali. BUDO ferries leave from Istanbul’s Eminonu-Sirkeci terminal and arrive at Mudanya. Prices range between 20 to 50 TLR.
  • All major monuments are within walking distance of each other.
  • Bursaray is the city metro which is convenient to travel between the city centre and the museums in Kulturpark
  • Cable car is available to the Uludag mountain but is too small to carry ski equipment. You can either drive to the mountain or rent equipments at the top.
  • Bursa boasts a vibrant nightlife with music and dance festivals throughout the year. Arap Sukru Street is studded with bars and clubs that go on until morning.

Shopping in Bursa

Bursa has been a famous silk trading center for decades now. The old central market, known as Carsi, is Bursa's most well-known shopping district and has now been added to the List Of World Heritage sites. In addition, the charming ancient Tahtakale neighborhood bazaar can be found across from Ulu Camii, a few blocks south of Ataturk Caddesi. Near the Gokdere stop metro station,one can browse the local bazaar, or visit the enormous Saturday street bazaar at the Nilufer Agora. Bursa is a great place to shop with products ranging from Silk fabrics, local art, rugs and carpets, Kestane sekeri, and puppets of Karagoz & Hacivat antiques from the Ottoman period.

Bursa is the birthplace of one of northwestern Turkey's most famous dishes, the iskender kebab. Day 1: The first stop at Bursa should be The Great Mosque of Bursa, also known as Ulu Cami. Built in 199, this blend of Seljuk and Ottoman architecture is placed in the city centre. Next, head uphill towards the tomb of Sultan Osman Gazi I, known as Gazi Osman Turbesi. This area offers panoramic views of the Bursa city, a clock tower and an imperial gate with walls. There is a small café here; from where you can grab something to eat. Next is the Green Mosque and Mausoleum, a 15th-century landmark, another must-visit in Bursa. Finally, move towards the Koza Han, a historical caravanserai in the old town. The Koza Han narrates the stories of the Ottoman silk trade from Bursa. Surrounded by several bazaars, this area is a great place to shop for souvenirs and unwind by drinking Cay at a local joint.

Day 2: A quick trip to Mount Uludag is highly recommended if you have a few hours before leaving Bursa. The Bursa Teleferik is an 8-person cable car, which takes about 15-20 minutes to reach Mount Uludag and offers breathtaking views of the surroundings; it is the simplest way to go to Uludag.
