The Turkish coastal town of Cesme is located on the Aegean coast towards the west of Izmir. It is located 89 km from Izmir in Turkey and very close to the Greek island of Chios. History of Cesme

One of the piers in the Erythrai region was Cesme, also known as CYSUS, whose history dates back to 1000 BC. Erythrai was a civilization that existed in Cesme around the 7th century BC. It was founded as one of the cities of the Pan-Ionian League by the Cretans.The town was given the name Cesme due to the region's numerous springs and the cold water streams that fall from its fountains, the number of which has grown through time. It is well known that Erythrai, which has a harbor that is well protected, has ties to Egypt, Cyprus, and western nations and has expanded its trade. The ruins of Erythrai, one of the 12 Ionian forces from antiquity, are one of the greatest tourist attractions in Cesme because of its international appeal. Cesme lived throughout the rule of Lydia, Persia, the Kingdom of Pergamon (Bergama), Roman, and Byzantine.
