Laid by the Mughal ruler, Mahmud Begda in the 10th century, the ancient fort of Pavgadha is the oldest piece of architecture in Champaner. This hilltop fortress from the Solanki era is an integral part of the Pavagadh hill landscape.
Among the numerous archaic Hindu and Jain temples here, the famous Lakulish Temple in the Mauliya plateau is the earliest religious site. Many Nagara temples between the 1200s and the 1400s are also found here.
