The Round Tower, Copenhagen Overview

The Round Tower is a 17th-century astronomical observatory built in the heart of Copenhagen. Known as the Equestrian Staircase, the tower is best known for its 7.5-turn helical corridor that gives incredible city views when walking up its upper platform. The baroque-style building has spires.

This historic building is beautifully designed in an attractive Dutch Baroque style, made of red and yellow bricks, ornamented with spires and decorated with historical designs. This tower was built by Christian IV for Christian Brahe's research and is still used by many astronomers as it is part of the Trinitatis Complex with a university attached to the tower chapel. Adding to the charisma of this tower is the Copenhagen University Library, an academic library and the library hall, which organizes concerts. When you visit the building in spring, you will have the opportunity to participate in the famous annual unicycle race.
