The Ao Dai Show is a beautiful storytelling of Vietnam’s past and present culture through vibrant performances. The show occurs in the Culture House of Ngu Hanh Son district of Danang City on Tran Van Dan Street. Each show is one hour long. Also called the Nguyen Dynasty Royal Show, it recreates the scenery of the Imperial Palace of the Nguyen Dynasty, the 100-year history of ancient Ao Dai, traditional wedding costumes, school uniforms, a lotus dance, and beautiful collections of Ao Dai on stage.
Ao Dai is the Vietnamese national dress, a colorful, ankle-length tunic worn over trousers. Introduced by the Nguyen Dynasty in the 18th-20th century, a more form-fitting version is still a formal outfit in Vietnam. The Ao Dai Show flaunts the country's heritage and other significant cultural aspects. The show starts with the history of Vietnamese dynasties, followed by a deeper insight into the Nguyen Dynasty and their cultures. Next comes a recreation of ancient markets and how the locals dressed in Ao Dai during the late 18th to early 20th century. You will also see a traditional Vietnamese wedding with era-accurate formal garments and all other rituals and practices.
Next comes a contemporary dance performance inspired by Vietnam’s national flower, the lotus. Before the showstopping performance of the night, there is a performance by young girls dressed in the white school uniform Ao Dai. The show ends with displaying the most exquisite collection of Ao Dai dresses from Vietnam’s top designers. The presentation includes Cup Dance, Vietnamese Mixed Martial Arts, Dragon Dance, Hue Royal Court Music, and other performances.
