Located right in the centre of Msheireb Downtown Doha, the Msheireb Museums honour the past of four historic heritage homes. All four houses are now museums dedicated to Qatar’s cultural and social development. Each house was constructed in the traditional Qatari manner with open courtyards.
The Bin Jelmood house, the residence of a former slaver, exhibits the social, cultural, and economic impacts of slavery through audio-visual exhibits. It also has an in-house library. The Company House traces the rich legacy of the petroleum history of Qatar. It was the headquarters of the first oil company in the country. The Mohammed Bin Jassim House explores Doha’s traditionally rich history and how it shapes Doha’s future. The Radwani House represents traditional family life in Qatar and its evolution throughout history. At the opposite end of the museums lies the Barahat Msheireb courtyard area filled with cafes and restaurants. A large mosque surrounds the museums, and the iconic Souq Waqif is nearby.
