Church of Our Lady Dresden

Frauenkirche is a stunning Baroque Lutheran church located in Neumarkt Square in the heart of Dresden, Germany. Originally built in the 18th century, it was reconstructed after being destroyed during World War II and now stands as a symbol of peace and reconciliation. Built between 1726 and 1743, with the designs of George Bahr, the Frauenkirche stands as a symbol of Dresden. The 'stone bell', a term given to its characteristic dome was destroyed during the 1945 bombings. However, the monument was restored to its original grandeur by 2005. It is said that the original stones of the church was stored and used for reconstruction later. The Frauenkirche also represents international reconciliation. Today the cathedral hosts concerts and musicals and is a reverred pilgrimage site.
