Dresden Castle

Dresden Castle, located in the city center, is a historic Renaissance palace that once housed Saxony’s rulers for over four centuries. It is home to the Green Vault, famous for its extraordinary treasures, and the Armoury, showcasing elaborate weapons and armor. Visitors can explore its ornate architecture, stunning courtyards, and exhibitions featuring fine art and historical artifacts.

The four wing palace structure, destroyed by fire once , was reconstructed under Augusus the Strong. The palace was victim to destructions yet again during the Second World War and this time a lot of valuable interior furnishing was lost. After restoration that continued over 20 years, the palace with its unique murals and baroque towers is truly spectacular. It houses the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (Dresden State Art Collections). The TÙrckische Cammer (Turkish Chamber) , Kupferstich-Kabinett (Collection of Prints, Drawings and Photographs) are all magnificent displays of art. The Historisches GrÙnes Gew_lbe and the Neues GrÙnes Gew_lbe, the Historic Green Vault and New Green Vault, both showcase the extraordinary wealth of the Saxon rulers' private collections.
