"The Beautiful City of Islam"

Islamabad Tourism

Pakistan's capital city, Islamabad is an important centre and hub for geopolitics in the South Asian region. A planned city designed to replace the former capital Karachi, it is regarded as one of the most developed Pakistani cities, as well as the greenest and the cleanest, serving as a centre for tourism to witness the prowess and wonder of the culture of Pakistan.

Being a largely Muslim-populated city, Islamabad is home to the Faisal Mosque, the largest mosque of Pakistan as well as South Asia. The surroundings of the city are lush green hills that amplify the magnificence of this capital city, with the beautiful Margalla Hills National Park, part of the foothills of the Himalayas and one of the country's most important biological hotspots. The city itself is home to a number of green spaces, the most prominent being the Shakarparian National Park. You can admire the natural beauty of the country, or journey a little further to find the pristine Rawai LakeThe overall architecture of the city can be described as a delightful blend of traditional Islamic architecture with the contemporary styles to produce some truly distinguished structures, most notably the Saudi-Pak tower and the Pakistan Monument. A well-planned city, most of the cosmopolitan vibe of the city can be found in the Blue Area, designated the commercial centre and central business district of the city. The outskirts of the city will show you former Mughal structures like the Pharwala Fort and Rawat Fort, both impressive fortifications that display the majesty of the former Mughal empire.
