Parichha Dam, a human-made reservoir is built on the Jhansi-Kanpur Highway in the town of Parichha. The dam is built on the Betwa River and its reservoir, which is a placid stretch of water and runs to Notghat Bridge. It is popular amongst the local for water sports facilities and boating.
Being the primary source of water for drinking and agricultural purposes of Jhansi, it also has a thermal plant which generates 1149 MW power. Constructed by the British between 1881 to 1886, the dam still stands and serves many facilities to the people of Jhansi.
The major activities and water sports which the dam offers is boating and fishing. Boating in the Betwa River gives a captivating view of the scenic beauty of the place and a soothing experience along with a feeling of being in nature. Fishing is also one of the famous activities at the Parichha dam and Betwa River. You can always find many people sitting on the banks of the river with the fishing rod in their hand. The dam is a picturesque spot as well for the tourists.
