Dhareswar, Kumta Overview
A spiritual place which owns an ancient temple namely Mahadev Temple on slope hill nearly 800 years old is Dhareshwar. Lying about 8 km south-east of Kumta, the temple is home to four inscribed tablets.
Believed to be created by Rudroji Pandit, the temple was completed by Sonappa somewhere around 1500 to 1559. Surrounded by five sacred pools, the temple is made of black stone while the walls are adorned with beautiful sculptures. A fair held annually in mid January is quite fascinating.
