World Museum , Liverpool Overview

World Museum is the oldest museum and gallery operated by the National Museums Liverpool. Located on William Brown Street, it is known for its expansive collections and displays of life sciences, earth sciences and human cultures around the globe.

It started on 8th March 1853 in the Ropeworks district of Liverpool and is now relocated to its current site on William Brown Street in 1860. The Museum was given a new name that is the  World Museum on 29th April 2005 at the same time an aquarium, revamped galleries and a new entrance were installed. Among the unique features of this museum are the aquarium and the planetarium. The aquarium is home to aquatic species from around the globe. On the other hand, the planetarium offers a closer view of the solar system due to the brilliant art digital projection system. This museum is quite educational and informative in nature especially because of its innovative collections, friendly environment and historical background. 


Distinct attractions include the National History Centre and a planetarium. The compilations of antiquities, world cultures, natural history and physical sciences reflect immense knowledge and information thus making it an enlightening learning experience for tourists.
