Sveti Jure is a perfect hike to enjoy the mixture of fabulous views of mountain ranges as well as rustic and majestic views of Biokovo Nature Park. It is located in Split - Dalmatia County. The route commands a breathtaking panorama with views of the Adriatic Sea and alpines and inland floors mixed together.
The walk to the top of it is considered tough, if not technically, but it demands physical condition. The trail begins from the main square in the center of Makarska. It's a two-kilometer one-way walk. The other way to reach the top includes driving along scenic views or hiking along the lush green cliffs, one of the most difficult routes. There is a Route to the nature park of Biokovo that leads to the top. The Summit of Sveti Jure is approximately 1.5 hours by car. It ascends to 35 km at 1762 m above sea level. The routes are concise and narrow, making it impossible for two cars to pass simultaneously. You can also drive by motorcycle to the top. The route is initially straight, and the most exciting uphill is where you reach the top with narrow serpentines. The road is quite demanding but is one of the most dangerous roads in Europe. The best time is before noon and right before sunset. It's a thrilling experience from the start to the top when you can see Bosnia on one side, the Adriatic Sea on the other, and if the weather is clear, then Italy too.
