The Marmaris Castle is one of the most popular castles in Turkey and is located on the Marmaris Front. It is Marmaris’ oldest landmark and is known for its stunning views of the beach and marina. The castle boasts three museums showcasing archaeological artifacts. It is a small site and can be covered in half an hour. Its entrance fee is included in Museum Card.
There is an in-house museum which is the only museum in the city. The ethnography lounge displays 5000 years’ worth of imperial art and artefacts. It also exhibits fragments of work from the Ottoman era, including weapons used, copper kitchen pieces, rugs, carpets, weaving works, and handicrafts. Meanwhile, the archaeology area showcases mud pots, coins, glassware, and earthen findings from excavations of nearby popular sites like Burgaz and Knidos. One of the most memorable parts of the castle is its gardens and landscapes. The panoramic view of the sea, city, and harbour from its lookout towers adds to its prominence.
