Known as the Beverly Hills of Bollywood, Juhu is home to many of the Bollywood celebrities. Famous for the Juhu Beach, the neighbourhood of Juhu is an inherently peaceful part of Mumbai, visited by fans in hope to meet their stars. The ISKCON temple in Juhu is yet another attraction to visit.
Juhu was once a long stretch of island, accessible during the low tides. Majorly occupied by the Koli community, Juhu was called as ‘Juvem’ by the Portuguese who gave Juhu the St. Joseph’s Church. Visioned to be something similar to but better than the present scenario of Juhu, Jamshedji Tata had planned a development project which was abandoned after his death. Mahatma Gandhi used to take long walks on the Juhu beach during his visits to Mumbai.
Shopping in Juhu is constrained to basic needs and anything fancy can be found in Shopping Malls like D B Mall, Options, etc. All of the food joints, restaurants and Gastropubs lie on the Juhu-Tara Road and it also hosts places like Trilogy, Club 502, Rock Bottom, True Tramm Trunk, etc. that make up the happening nights in Juhu.
