Thane

The presence of Thane city shows up in worldwide history as early as the 9th century. The city was then known as Shreesthanak. It was all the more prevalently known as the Capital of the Shilahar line. The historical backdrop of Thane city can be extensively sorted into five times.

The first railroad train was begun on sixteenth April 1853 from Boribunder to Thane, giving Thane the respect of facilitating an occasion of recorded importance. In 1880 the Thane Municipality spent approximately Rs. 12,960/ - on development of the Pokharan Lake, to utilize the lake water for drinking reason. This renowned venture was introduced by the then Governor of Mumbai, Sir Ferguson James. The principal races of the Municipality were led in the year 1885.
