Munich’s Old Town is a place dedicated to the culture and history of Germany. It has a lot of things to do, a lot of places to explore, and amazing places to eat at. Always hustling and bustling with pedestrians, it is well built with aesthetic looks and splendid shops, cafes and restaurants.
The most popular place here is Marienplatz. It was historically the centre of Munich where all the public events were hosted. The Neues Rathaus and Altes Rathaus, i.e the new and the old town halls also are a must visit. The Altes Rathaus is a building known for its Gothic aesthetics. The neighborhood also features a four-floored Spielzugmuseum, or Toy Museum, which features all sorts of toys that have been preserved for centuries. Today, it hosts offices of the city council and some administrative departments. The Old Town place also has many beautiful churches, namely Frauenkirche (Catherderal Church of Our Lady), Alter Peterskirche (St. Peter’s Church) and Asamkirche. These places are just the tip of the iceberg. Stunning attractions and lip-smacking food are waiting for you at Munich’s Old Town! This place faced several damages due to World War II and was rebuilt in 1972. However, it still bears marks on these damages caused due to weapons as an homage to the people who lost their lives and as a reminder of history. These are called Wunden der Erinnerung, which means Wounds of Memory.
