Sprawling across a huge area of 2.31 hectares is the famous teak plantation of Kerala also known as Conolly's Plot. Created between the years 1842 and 1844, it is renowned as the world's first teak plantation.
However, the most popular landmark of this plantation is world's oldest teak tree standing here. This plantation derives its name from the name of its creator H.V Conolly, the collector under the British rule. Shri Chanthu Menon, the subordinate who helped to develop this plantation is buried near the old teak tree as a mark of respect.
