A serene hilltop Buddhist temple located behind Mae Yen village, Chedi Phra That Mae Yen is a popular destination for enjoying scintillating views of sunsets. In front of the temple is the landmark white statue of Buddha in a meditative pose on a fully-bloomed lotus. You will get a panoramic 360-degree view of Pai from the top, which looks even more picturesque during dawn and dusk.
You can reach the temple either via the motorable path or by climbing the 353 Naga stairs for a more spiritual experience. The temple area houses Phra Ubosot, a 3m-high bell-shaped Chedi with a round pedestal and a Burmese-style umbrella top. The locality is dotted with some Thai-style restaurants and cafes where you can stop for refreshments after the visit.
