Peer ki gali

Peer Ki Gali, situated approximately 50 km from Srinagar, along the historic Mughal Road, is a breathtaking mountain pass that connects Poonch and Shopian districts. Surrounded by lush meadows and snow-capped peaks, this high-altitude pass offers stunning panoramic views and a serene environment. It is often referred to as the gateway to the Pir Panjal range. 

The primary reason to visit Peer Ki Gali is its natural grandeur, which offers an ideal setting for outdoor activities like trekking, hiking, and camping. It is part of the historic Mughal Road, once used by the Mughal emperors to travel between Lahore and Srinagar. Alongside its natural beauty, the area is also spiritually significant.

The name "Peer Ki Gali" comes from the Sufi saint Sheikh Ahmed Karim, whose shrine is located nearby, adding a layer of spiritual and cultural richness to the place. If you're looking to try authentic local fare, the small tea stalls and eateries along the Mughal Road offer freshly prepared meals that complement the mountain experience.

In terms of climate, Peer Ki Gali is best visited during the summer months from May to September when the roads are clear, and the weather is mild, making it perfect for sightseeing and exploring the surrounding areas. Winters bring heavy snowfall, which enhances the beauty of the region but can make access difficult due to road closures.
