Historical & Folk Art Museum of Rethymnon, Rethymno Overview
The Historical & Folk Art Museum of Rethymno is a two-storey 17th-century Venetian mansion turned museum located on Vernardou Street in Rethymnon. The museum displays Rethymnons historical artefacts and folk art dating back to the 4th and 5th centuries. The collections include clothes, pottery, tools, hand-woven baskets, machines, musical instruments, and many more. Maps, photographs, traditional costumes, and other historical records are also present.
It has two floors, an indoor courtyard garden, and five rooms with exhibits depicting traditional life during the world wars and in ancient Crete. The museum was founded in 1974.
