Mozartplatz is a square in Altstadt's old town. The plaza's focal point is the centrepiece statue of world-famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, to whom Salzburg was the hometown. Mozartplatz is home to Imhofstöckl, the tourist information office, and the Salzburg Museum.
Formerly known as Michaelsplatz, The square's proximity to Residenzplatz and the Salzburg Cathedral makes it a popular tourist destination. When Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich originally built the square, the centrepiece was a Baroque fountain of St. Michael.
