Untersberg is a group of mountains in the Berchtesgaden Alps, located about 30 minutes south of Salzburg. It is a natural border between Berchtesgaden, Germany, and Salzburg, Austria. It attracts scores of hikers and tourists who wish to enjoy its spectacular scenery.
The highest peak in Untersberg is Berchtesgaden Hochthron at 6473 ft. There are many legends associated with the massif, such as that of Emperor Frederick Barbossa and Charlemagne sleeping inside the mountains. Trolley and cable car services offering panoramic views are available to reach the bottom station of the mountains. It is one of the most popular recreational places in Salzburg.

July - September: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM
October - December: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
The last descent is 30 minutes before closing.
Entry Fee : Entry into Untersberg is free. Cable car charges are applicable.
