Sunrise Hike to Mount Sinai, Sharm El Sheikh Overview

Mount Sinai is one of the most renowned tourist spots in St Catherine town in Qesm. There are two trails en route to the mountain. The first is the Camel Trail, used for going up, and the second is used to travel back to the monastery by 3750 steps leading to the foot of the mountain. A local guide and Government clearance are mandatory to hike the sacred mountain.

Its hike is also known as the St. Catherine Hike, as it is home to the sacred pilgrimage site of St Catherine’s Cathedral. The Camel trail is more of a flat trail, while the second trail is called the Steps of Repentance. It is famous for the 3750 steps believed to have been made by a repenting monk. Referred to as Mount Moses, it is widely believed to be the site of the Biblical burning bush and where Moses received the Ten Commandments. Tourists can stay overnight, visit the ancient monastery, and travel to the summit for a mesmerizing sunset view.
