Short Hills

Only 21.9 miles on road from New York, the unincorporated affluent community of Short Hills is part of Millburn Township of Essex County in New Jersey. Acting as a commuter town for New York residents, it boasts of the Mall at Short Hills that houses over 150 speciality outlets including Dior, Gucci and Chanel and eateries. 

On your day trip from New York, visit the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum and Bird Sanctuary that has several walking trails, rare ferns, over 150 wildflower species and 45 flora species including the 275 years old tulips. The stone house accommodates a hundred bird species, rabbits, chinchilla, Eastern Spotted Newt, tarantula, Chinese Box Turtles, leopard geckos, Eastern Painted Turtles and an albino corn snake. The Italianate Greenwood Gardens offers periodic musical events and educational tours to explore the wrought-iron gates featuring assorted plants, vines and birds, the bronze statue, teahouse, summerhouse and workers’ cottages. You can also visit Old Short Hills Park and Gero Park for golfing, swimming and baseball.
