Piazza Salimbeni is an eminent square in the central Siena region of Tuscany, Italy. Itstill houses the offices of one of the first banking houses in Europe. It is engulfed by a palace on three sides and it still retains numerous graceful artefacts that the bank collected during their heyday.
Palazzo Salimbeni was constructed in the 14th century by enlarging a previous fortress from the 12th century that belonged to the Salimbeni family. The most noted building is Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, the oldest bank in the world. The Rennaissance style of architecture can be witnessed throughout the monumental structure which is quite appealing thus inviting several tourists to visit this spot. It has also become a trending photography spot. However, apart from the main attraction, there are small shops and cafes where one can relax.
