Tamworth

The outback town of Tamworth is the perfect place for country music fans, with the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame being the highlight of the area. It is also the venue of the Tamworth Country Music Festival, the second biggest of its kind in the world.

With the beautiful Peel River and the desert-like surroundings of the Outback, Tamworth looks like a scene of the Wild Wild West, making it the perfect setting for all who love the classic country vibe. The guitar-shaped Australian Country Music Hall of Fame is the first stop for these travellers, paying tribute to all the classic stars throughout time, with various forms of memorabilia, costumes and instruments being carefully preserved. In the town’s southern part, the connection to the genre is marked by the sculpture of the Big Golden Guitar next to the visitor information centre. The Galaxy of Stars Wax Museum next to it pays tribute to all the country music legends throughout the years. The town’s homage to the genre continues as you move throughout the city, with statues of Smoky Dawson, Slim Dusty, and Joy McKean scattered around the town centre.

In the Bicentennial Park lies the Country Music Pioneers Parade, with busts of all the great musicians throughout time lined up in a row for visitors to marvel at. The Country Music Hands of Fame Park has handprints from over 250 artists and big names of the industry, all past visitors to the famous Tamworth Country Music Festival.
