Tunis is known as Tunisia's most relaxed and laid-backed city. Its people and culture encompass what one would call 'easygoing'. The city mixes the charm of an exotic location with the right kind of activities to ensure that no one will ever leave unhappy. There is a wide variety of adventure sports, cultural tours and food options galore to please even the fussiest of travelers!
Tunisia is a northern country in Africa with a relatively small population. The people of the city of Tunis, the capital city, are very friendly and inviting, so you will never feel unwelcome in this country. This city is also much safer than most other cities in the African continent. With this being said, women travelers, especially women who are travelling alone should be wary going out, more importantly where they go out. The culture of this city is so easygoing, that it is said that people don't walk in Tunis, they doolesha, meaning to stroll at a very slow pace. There are parks, mosques, shrines and museums aplenty in Tunis, and there are also many types of restaurants. However, what is interesting is that there are some cafes and restaurants that are meant for men exclusively! When shopping in Tunis make sure that you haggle all that you can in the bazaars. More than anything, this is expected of people and is a part and a way of life in the city. What is so enticing about this city is that in the center you will find bazaars and souks of the Arabic culture, but as you go to the coast, you will find that there are markets with a significant European touch to them, making anyone really feel like they are in Africa and Europe at the same time!
