Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Nairobi - Amboseli National Park (215 km, 3-4 hrs)

Your journey begins with a morning pick-up from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your Nairobi hotel by our driver-guide. Depart Nairobi and enjoy a scenic drive to Amboseli National Park, passing through African savannah and local villages. Upon arrival, check into your lodge or camp and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, embark on your first game drive in Amboseli, known for its large elephant herds and stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, depart from Amboseli and drive to Lake Naivasha. Enjoy a scenic boat cruise on the lake, home to abundant birdlife and hippos. After lunch, take a guided walking safari, then continue your journey to Lake Nakuru. Check into your lodge, unwind, and enjoy dinner at the lodge.

Begin the day with an early morning game drive in Lake Nakuru, known for its flamingos and rhinos. After breakfast, relax at the lodge before checking out and departing for Masai Mara. Arrive in the evening, check into your lodge or camp, and visit a local Maasai village to learn about their culture. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Enjoy a full day of game drives in Masai Mara, home to the Big Five and the Great Migration. Explore the reserve, have a picnic lunch, and continue your game drive in the afternoon. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, check out from the lodge and depart for Nairobi. Enjoy a scenic drive with lunch en route. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you can opt for a short city tour before being dropped off at your hotel or the airport.

Planning a safari trip for a beginner could be daunting, you will be offered various itineraries and quotations pretty much from different local tour operators and there was one offer that at first I (Read More)was tempted to consider and that was to go off the beaten track, meaning away from major known Kenya's safari destinations. But then again, I was reminded that we were all first timers so why would we not go for the most visited and core safari spots then? So off we went for the magical and a lifetime safari excursions at Masai Mara, Lake Nakuro and Amboseli with our Safari guide/game driver and the kindest "BEN" from BEYOND THE PLAINS tour operator. I have to specially commend Ben's drive to offer us the most memorable Safari that we could ever ask for. We we were able to see the Big 5 within 3 days and seeing all the wildlife in their natural habitat freely moving, proudly claiming and owning their place was surreal, satisfying and liberating.

I spent many weeks working through the myriad number of details and options available for our 8-day safari in Kenya, with multiple tour operators...and the great people at Beyond the Plains clearly ca (Read More)me out on top. However, booking a great safari and then delivering on that promise are two separate things - but Beyond the Plains and our **incredible** guide Kevin Mwangi did just that!! We truly had the adventure of a lifetime and, when Kevin had to depart suddenly on the second-to-last day (due to a sudden illness in his family), Beyond the Plains made sure a great guide was with us the next day. And John finished the itinerary admirably! For absolutely fantastic service, attention to detail and the ability to overcome a challenging situation like they did, the people at Beyond the Plains deservedly receive 5-stars from our entire family...and Kevin gets 6!

Beyond The Plains were very quick in replying to our inquiry. They offered an exciting itinerary for the Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru. We were travelling as a family, and they took this i (Read More)nto account and arranged for activities that were great for all. We all enjoyed the safari a lot. I have been on several safaris and this was indeed one of the best! We saw all Big 5 and many more animals. Accommodation and food were great. This was a wonderful time. We even celebrated a birthday on the first day, and Beyond the Plains organised a surprise cake and flowers for the birthday girl! Everything worked smooth, and the team was very responsive and communicative. Highly recommended!
