Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Nairobi – Amboseli National Park (240 km – Approx. 3-4 hrs.)

Your adventure begins with a warm welcome at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your hotel. After introductions, embark on a scenic drive to Amboseli National Park, known for its breathtaking views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, settle into your lodge or camp and relax before heading out for an evening game drive. Amboseli is famous for its large herds of elephants and diverse wildlife set against the stunning backdrop of Africa's highest peak.
Overnight stay at your lodge/camp in Amboseli.

You’ll rise early for a pre-breakfast game drive. Life pervades every nook and valley of the grasslands at this time of day as nocturnal animals head to their resting places and the other animals of the day begin their cycle of feeding and preying breathing energy into the landscape.

Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, watches over you roaming and with luck, the clouds won’t roll in before you get your perfect photograph of the snow-capped peak. You will spend your day looking out for elephants, giraffes, rhinos, zebras, wildebeest, and all the other fauna that live off the luscious, green grasslands of Kenya.

Lunch is served in a picnic style, surrounded by the beauty of the park and dinner is served at your accommodation.

After a hearty breakfast, depart Amboseli and journey through Kenya’s scenic Great Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and enjoy a leisurely boat ride on the tranquil waters of the lake, where you can spot hippos and an array of waterbirds. Later, take a guided nature walk on Crescent Island, a sanctuary teeming with zebras, giraffes, and antelopes.
Overnight stay at your lodge in Lake Naivasha.

Following breakfast, drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, renowned for its large populations of flamingos and pelicans, as well as rhinos and other wildlife. After checking into your lodge, embark on an afternoon game drive to explore the park’s diverse ecosystem, which includes dense woodlands, rocky escarpments, and open grasslands. Marvel at the shimmering lake, dotted with vibrant birdlife, and the rolling hills that frame this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Overnight stay at your lodge in Lake Nakuru National Park.

Enjoy breakfast before setting out for the world-renowned Masai Mara National Reserve. Along the way, you’ll stop at a curio shop to browse unique souvenirs and local crafts. Upon arrival in the Mara, check into your lodge or camp and prepare for an authentic cultural experience. Visit a Maasai village, where you’ll be guided by a Maasai Moran, learning about their traditions, daily life, and harmonious relationship with nature.
(Note: If you prefer, you can opt for an evening game drive instead of the village visit.)
Overnight stay at your lodge/camp in Masai Mara.

Spend the day exploring the rolling savannahs and open plains of the Masai Mara, one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife reserves. Depending on the season, you may witness the Great Migration, a natural wonder where millions of wildebeests and zebras cross the Mara River, often pursued by predators. Your private safari allows you the flexibility to tailor your schedule, whether it’s an early morning game drive followed by a leisurely breakfast or a full-day adventure with a picnic lunch at a scenic spot. Spot the Big Five, marvel at the teeming wildlife, and take in the sweeping views of this extraordinary landscape.
Overnight stay at your lodge/camp in Masai Mara.

After breakfast, bid farewell to the Masai Mara and start your journey back to Nairobi. Reflect on your incredible safari experience as you drive through Kenya’s beautiful landscapes. Arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon for a farewell lunch at a local restaurant. Your safari concludes with a transfer to the airport for your onward flight or an optional drop-off at your hotel.
End of Safari.

Google Reviews for Imara Africa Safaris

Luis, Patrick, and Ian were absolutely flawless during our time with them. They made us feel like family from the beginning, and were always willing to go above and beyond to accommodate any needs or (Read More)questions we may have had. We were able to see so many animals in the two parks we visited, and when it was allowed, we had opportunities to get quite close to the animals to just be able to admire them and get amazing photos. Thank you so much to you three for making this experience for my family and I unforgettable. Imara Africa Safaris has my fully recommendation, don't look any further, and just book with them!

I had an awesome experience with Imara Africa Safaris and would highly recommend them for anyone planning a safari in Kenya. Lewis, the organizer of our trip, was exceptionally communicative, ensuring (Read More) that every detail was well planned. His dedication to making our journey memorable was truly outstanding. Our driver, Patrick, demonstrated remarkable professionalism, especially in Kenya where roads can be challenging and drivers are very aggressive. Patrick's defensive and safe driving made our travel through Kenya a breeze. His skills were a true asset, providing us with a sense of security in unfamiliar terrain. Lewis patiently answered all my questions before the trip. Being in a different continent, having a local perspective and recommendations was invaluable. Imara Africa Safaris wasn't just a generic cookie-cutter experience; they were incredibly willing to customize the trip to my needs, creating a personalized adventure that exceeded my expectations. Imara Africa Safaris is a hardworking team, with responses within 24 hours even during the planning phase, 3-6 months from our initial contact. Their commitment to customer satisfaction was evident throughout. During the trip, unforeseen changes occurred, including our flight being moved up by over 12 hours. Lewis and Patrick demonstrated incredible flexibility and willingness to accommodate, ensuring a seamless experience. Despite being a relatively new business, they are a verified and trustworthy company. Our custom trip started in the Masai Mara, followed by multi-day safaris in Nakuru and Naivasha. While our excursion in Zanzibar wasn’t our favorite and it was with a third-party guide, not affiliated with Imara Africa Safaris, the Kenya portion of the trip was nothing short of wonderful. I wouldn't hesitate to choose Imara Africa Safaris for future adventures, and I'm grateful for the unforgettable memories they helped create.

We arranged our safari with Lewis and Imara Africa via WhatsApp where Lewis sent me lots of links for various places, helped me choose dates, pick up and drop off places etc. We decided on a pick up (Read More)from our hotel in Nairobi where all of the staff met us with the private vehicle and our driver James. We drove to Amboseli National Park where we stayed for 1 night at the Elewana Tortilis Camp with food and drink included. The drive into the park itself was amazing and we saw lots of animals. We then had another safari drive later in the afternoon. The following morning we drove to Tsavo West and Salt Lick Lodge where we were staying for 2 nights and again a game drive on the way in and another one in the afternoon. On the second day we had a full day game drive in Tsavo East and the following morning James drove us to Mombasa where we were flying to Zanzibar. James was an amazing driver and we saw all of the big 5 while we were there. He made sure we had plenty of water in the truck and got us to each place safely. Lewis of course made sure everything was arranged in advance so checking in was smooth and our accommodation was amazing! I will be planning another safari for the Masai Mara and I have no hesitation in using Imara Africa Safaris.

We LOVED our experience with Imara Africa tour group. I contacted them looking for a specific date and location and they worked with me to create a great itinerary! I always received a professional em (Read More)ail response within a day. Tour day was WONDERFUL! We had a private driver and guide to take us out to a spice farm, then into Stone Town. The guide walked with us through Stone town and was knowledgeable about the area and history. He walked us back to our hotel after to be sure we didn't get lost.
