Itinerary

Head for the lovely tasting rooms of O Chateau in central Paris, where a sommelier awaits you to guide you through a dinner of French produces paired with 5 different wines, chosen to perfectly match the evening's menu. To give a little anecdote about Ô Chateau's history, O Chateau is located in a former ‘hotel particulier' previously owned by Mme de Pompadour in the 17th-Century. Voltaire, Rousseau, and George Sand used to come to these famous receptions organized by the lady of the house. In the beautiful old vaulted cellars, the most famous French wines were stored to serve to guests. This experience was crafted especially for foodies looking for something different. To sign up for this activity, there is no need to be a gourmet expert. The important thing is to love wine and food, and to want to have a good time! The dinner starts at 20:00 at O Chateau, and includes a chef-prepared appetizer, main course, and a dessert. The menu uses fresh seasonal produce and is constantly changing, but expect to be served fare such as seared scallop with avocado and cucumber salad, soy sauce and fresh raspberry reduction; veal tenderloin medallions with roasted garlic mashed potatoes, braised seasonal vegetables, and a red wine reduction; and moelleux au chocolat, with vanilla bean ice cream. Using a unique and refreshing approach, your sommelier will take you through a variety of themes to build up and refine your wine knowledge. He will share with you the secrets necessary to taste wine properly, to navigate a wine list, and to choose wine at a restaurant. He will also expertly guide you through the main wine regions of France, explain to you how to read a French label, and how to pair wine with food.

We were a motley crew of German, French, Americans, Singaporeans, Austrians...after a few glasses of wine it got very fun. The food wasn't so great, considering the price. The appetizer, a duck liver (Read More)pate, was tasty, the dessert was ok, but the most important part, the main dish , was a 'chunk of pork', parts of it weren't cooked and still half-raw...don't come here if you're really hungry, as you would with other restaurants in France. The seminar leader was very nice and courteous and he always topped us up. All in all this was very nice, but not necessarily worth 100 EUR, since that should also include a real wine tasting.

We did the 8:15 tasting on a Saturday night and were the only ones, so we ended up having a private tasting. (The 5pm tasting was sold out, so we lucked out!) Everything was fabulous, from the wine an (Read More)d food to our sommelier, Jasmina, who was very friendly and knowledgable. The main course that was served might have been the best thing we ate on our entire week in Paris.

they advertise a 4 or 5 course dinner and a tasting of 4 good wines. I doubt they'll be in business much longer.

Sommelier Clement was excellent, knowledgable, down to earth and interesting. The setting at O Chateau super, and the food great, although I’d rather have had a slightly smaller main course served per (Read More)haps with a side salad. The wines we tasted were very good, and information shared really helped! Highly recommend as an evening event, especially as a solo traveler, as it gives you a chance to interact with others too! Thanks
