Please DO NOT USE this organization for any excursions taking place outside of Kenya. African Hartebeest Safari did a great job putting me and my family's Safari together back in 2021. Thinking back o (Read More)n the experience in 2021 when I asked Sally what would happen if any of our covid test came back negative she began to panic alluding to the fact that I would not be refunded only given a possible credit. Two weeks later just 2 days before we were to leave for Kenya my 12 year old nephew"s covid test came back positive. We were all devastated as we had looked forward to this trip for months. I called Sally and gave her the news and all she could do was tell me how we couldn't cancel and that the four of us with the negative covid test would have to come. She never once displayed any empathy for my nephew it was all about the money. We had my nephew re-tested and he was negative so we were able to go to Kenya and have a good time but I should have been on alert just from her reaction as to us might not being able to go. Why am I saying all of this? I'm getting there. Fast forward to October 2023. Sally had did such a good job with our Kenya trip that I reached out to her in January this year to see if she was able to do excursions in Egypt and Israel. As a christian I'd always wanted to see the Holy land and this would also be a great birthday gift for my youngest sister. Sally without hesitation said that she could put together a trip for us. A couple of months later I received a great itinerary for me and my sister. Sally said that I needed to pay $5280 up front which was half of the deal in order to secure rooms, intercontinental flights, excursions, etc. I had no issues with such since I had a positive experience with her and AHS two years prior. As early as June Sally started saying that it would be in my best interest to pay the balance as she was worried that pricing for flights might increase. I told her that my money could earn interest in my bank account after all we were not leaving until October and that I Would not give her the balance before the end of July. She backed down. Now we all know what happened in Israel in early October just days before we were to head to Cairo then Israel. I asked Sally what would be a contingency plan as even she agreed that Israel was not safe but in the same breath stated that she doubted that there could be an alternative plan. Are you starting to see a pattern here? When Sally and AHS start to think that they might have to provide refunds things get real dodgy. I suggested to Sally that she find some place else to send us within reason to cover the Israel portion of our excursion, she agreed. Long story short she replaced Israel with Turkey(I was to find out later that evening during our travels that you also need 6 months to enter Turkey). 2 hours into our layover at JFK my sister is paged to Qatar's counter. They were going to off load her luggage and not allow her to fly. I then spoke with the agent who told me that my sister only had 5 months and 27 days left on her passport and she needed 6 months to enter Egypt. I said impossible. I sent our travel agent copies of our passports back in March and she said that we were good that all we needed were visas to accompany our PPs. I immediately contacted Sally devastated and told her what had transpired asking her how this could happen given that she had our passports since March. She immediately became defensive and said that it was not her responsibility to check the validity of our PPs. Since I have limited characters left I'll just tell you that out of the 10k plus that I paid for a service that i didn't receive Sally said that she could only salvage $5,902 usd of my money. My bank is now involved and disputing on my behalf. Once again if you are going to use AHS only do so for Kenyan Safaris and ask for a cancelation policy in writting. They don't list any on their itinararies but it is clear that they have a cash flow problem and don't have cash to give refunds. Proceed with EXTREME CAUTION!!!!
