Belizean roads are known for being bumpy, and it is not easy to for an amateur to hire a car and drive on these roads and the major highways. Car hire price usually starts at BZD $ 80 and more. Many international car hire chains like Avis, Hertz, Thrifty and local companies like Ron's, Pancho's, etc. serve from the international airport. Taxis are a good option if you wish to cover more places and it can get expensive for long trips. Book as soon as you arrive through a trustable person or your hotel reception. Taxi normally have green number plates that start with a "D".
Getting Around Belize By Water
San Pedro Belize Express operates daily from Belize City at Brown Sugar Terminal to San Pedro and Caye Caulker. Timings are: 9AM, 11AM, 12:00 noon, 1PM, 3PM, 4PM and 5:30PM . Similarly, boats depart from Caye Caulker in front of Basket Ball Court to Belize City and San Pedro.
