    We did not stay at this property for the reasons stated above.
    The member of staff was polite
    It was situated too far away from the seafront. The bedding and bathroom appeared clean but there were crumbs visible on the carpet. No clean towels were available at check in time. The property was shabby and unkempt.

    A bit further away from Sidmouth front, parking and breakfast included and good prices, just noisy as rooms above bar,
    Good location with parking included and reasonable price
    Noise as room above bar, things missing when went for breakfast like cutlery, butter, bowls for cereal , missing cups in room so couldnt make a brew in the room

    Basic pub with rooms - dont expect anything more.
    Good local pub with rooms
    Service and cleanliness was hit and miss - breakfast chef did not turn up on the first morning. Pub is open until late on some nights - can be noisy.

    Becky was on permanent duty, cleaning running the bar and dealing with reception in a cheerful and efficient manner
    Convenient well priced, Becky was hard working and cheerful
    The room while having crisp clean linen was tired and in need of a good sort out. The main light lamp shade required removing and thoroughly cleaning the dust was evident in the evening when the light was on, see photograph. The bathroom sink liquid soap dispenser was mucky.

    Very Good one Night Stsy
    Bedroom very comfortable and well equipped with everything expected. Desk/Dressing Table in correct location with mirror over and plug socket next to mirror. So many hotels around the world get this wrong. The Balfour gets it right! Complimentary tea coffee making well stocked as was bathroom accessories.
    Nothing really just a little convoluted to get from Bar Reception to get to the bedrooms. WC seat was off of its hinges. Forgot to mention on checkout

    Friendly staff,scrummy food, good sized room and excellent entertainment with Simon the Quiz master, great to see a pub put on different events to attract customers which you could tell everyone enjoyed.

    Functional, comfortable and good value
    Bedroom was a reasonable size with a large double bed that was comfortable. Shower room was a good size too.
    Breakfast buffet choices were rather limited and cooked breakfast was somewhat overcooked but had generous portion of bacon to go with the fried egg and sausage. Although the room was comfortable it was slightly marred by the sounds of coughing coming from the adjacent room for most of the night. This may have been a young staff member who appeared in the morning and appeared to have a smoker's cough!

    Loud music rave till 1.15 in the morning. The floor was bouncing . Not warned about this in advance. On arrival we were informed that the chef had decided not to start breakfast until 9.30 am , so we had to go without.

    Can hear conversations in the pub word for word from the bedroom so it's pretty noisy, the corridor was quite dirty and smelly and the bathroom wasn't very clean - mouldy shower, dirty towel rail etc
