BEWARE!

The location.

Beware of this hotel. Booking and reception staff are questionable. Prior to my stay I received a phising message through the booking.com app. Almost 600 USD was phised and on the day we checked in I was billed twice despite having prepaid my accommodations. After reporting the incident to booking.com customer service I was informed that several customers were victimized through phising as well in this hotel. The hotel is old and bed is not comfortable also. (OCT.2023)

Hotel was good for the price we paid

We had everything we needed, Room had a fridge and a comfy bed. Plenty of restaurants and bars in walking distance. Great breakfast place just next door.

Room only had a tiny window with basically no view and looked a little old fashioned compared to the fancy hallway.

Superb

I stayed there for one night only but I very much liked the room. It is very centrally located, reasonably priced compared to other options, friendly staff, nice building, clean room, everything worked.

I got some spam message pretending to be from this room but luckily we were able to quickly resolve it with them and with booking.com. I hope they improved their systems security and that it will not repeat in the future.

It is a bed for you to sleep in. Location is great. Linens were clean.

Room is dirty over all - marks on walls, dirty window sills, etc. Honestly a scrub and coat of paint would go a long way. I was a single female traveling alone - they put me on the main floor. Bed beside the window. The rooms are tiny so everyone walking the street could look right in at me. Nowhere to sit but the bed so then you are left needing to keep the cutains closed. AC only works if the curtains are open (otherwise it just cools the window and shuts off). So it was a constant battle between privacy or comfortable temperature. I asked for a room higher up for security but they had nothing available. Staff were sufficient but not very friendly. You also pay in full upfront not at checkout which was odd for me. Rooms are very basic furniture reminds me of a dorm room. It's too bad because the historic aspect of the hotel is great. The rooms themselves just need work. My biggest issues was that Barclay had their account compromised here on Booking.com and had spam messages go out FROM their account asking for updated payment. I ended up needing to cancel all my credit cards and accounts from the fraud. It cost me time and left me without access to my money while I waited for new cards. It took Barclay over 4 days to send out a message and update customers - I'm sure multiple people were effected in that lapse. No apologies or anything from Barclay. And when I mentioned it at check in, the guy in glasses at the front couldn't care less.
