    About This Property

In Crickhowell, in the Brecon Beacons, The Bear dates back to 1432. Expect a welcoming atmosphere, old world charm and good food. Awarded Inn of the Year 2010 by the Good Pub Guide. The Bear has original features, such as a cobbled forecourt, with an old archway leading to an inner courtyard. Rooms also have an historical feel, but with modern facilities like free Wi-Fi and satellite TV. The restaurant menu often changes to suit the local ingredients available. The award-winning food is served in cosy surroundings, with open log fires or fine fresh spring flowers. The restaurant is popular, so reservations are recommended. The popular bar at The Bear has a low-beamed ceiling, with a winter log fire and many antiques. It has twice won the 'Best Pub in Britain' award. A number of real ales are served, along with vintage wines.

Stay was fine, but disappointed with restaurant as it was freezing. Should have stayed in bar as it was much cosier.

Lovely and cozy hotel. Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed and guided to our room. The room was extremely comfortable, with lots of space and a big bed. Our waiter at dinner, He-man, was beyond exceptional to us and everyone in the dining room.
Food at dinner came in big servings, but was a bit rich for our liking. Our room was too warm and we couldn't figure out how to adjust it.

    Disappointing
    Disappointing
Initial check in, food was lovely.
Constant noise in the room from what we believe was a plumbing issue. Requested another room which was considerably smaller and only a double bed. We enquired about the room price as it was different and was met with rudeness. We were advised that the system said that it was equivalent. Asked if she would like to come and inspect and was told "no need to, the system says it is the same". Relocated to yet another room which was the same as first with a bigger bed. Went to dinner and the senior waitstaff were rude and blunt.
