Not sure if I would book again for the winter months. Haven't decided for a Spring or Summer stay.

Location was good.

My bathroom sink had a big crack in the basin, and there were large cobwebs around the ceiling. There were no clean mugs available through housekeeping on day 2 of 4. The single glazed windows let in the draft and droplets of rain. Didn't sleep well due to the high winds through the trees could be heard. Although there was a cooked breakfast daily, the selection for vegetarian options was not as varied. Fresh fruit selection was very poor. The breakfast was tidied away very quickly after 9.30am. I think breakfast for the weekend should be extended to 10am. Staff didn't engage much to check if everything was ok. The floors around the tables by the entry door were very muddy and dirty. Dinner on the one evening that was booked at the White Hart was disappointing and limited selection for vegetarian. Price for a burger and fish and chips did not seem good value.

Superb breakfast, cosy room

The single room was comfortable and warm, breakfast was an excellent buffet and the staff - although I only saw one person - was very helpful and friendly. Beautiful surroundings.

The WiFi was very weak to non-existent (and mobile signal quite poor due to the rural location) and the TV didn't work very well. Dinner was not available as I had not booked ahead but in fairness it was a few days after Christmas and the adjacent restaurant had not been stocked up as a result.

Magical fairytale getaway

The room was unique and historically beautiful, magical, fairytale like. The staff on reception and at all of the eateries were polite, helpful and friendly Our food was delicious, great flavours and beautifully presented.

Exceeded expectations.

Room was VERY clean. I have two requirements when staying away: clean bedding and a good shower. Both were excellent (especially the shower - powerful, and very warm). The breakfast was excellent. Clearly good quality (local?) produce with a nice selection. Gluten free bread readily available. I'd add an extra milk though - the only alternative was oat - so they should consider lactose free these days and at leat Soya.

The duvet was a little too small for the bed in reality when there are two of you. A top sheet would have made it better. We added an extra duvet the second night which did the trick though.
