Lovely downstairs. Decent price for what you get but rooms are very basic and decor really needs updating. I can't complain as you get what you pay for. Staff were lovely - remote not working for TV - provided batteries. Unfortunately it was still not working, but we were only using to wind down after our evening so not a big deal for us. Bar staff also happily provided jug of water and glasses to take to our room when I asked. A room with a walk in shower was provided as I have mobility issues which I was very grateful for. Clean rooms but basic and very old fashioned - could look amazing with a little tlc. Buffet breakfast provided in price - we went at 8.30am and food barely warm, food choice really good, but "hot" food very overdone. Sitting on hotplates - not ideal but edible. Eggs were not cooked through...and I love a fried egg! They have lovely pastries, drinks and fruit, jam, yoghurts (on ice). Just wanted to be clear so people know what they are getting. Bottom line - Staff absolutely fantastic, but everything is so old and tatty upstairs. Breakfast great selection, but no real love put into prep - really hate a barely warm cooked brekkie and undercooked eggs.
Bedroom - was a double, but as many hotels do - 2 singles pushed together - unfortunately this time it was really uncomfortable - had been made up as 2 singles which made bed keep splitting and couldn't share covers as singles. Not a huge deal, but affected sleep. Again, I didn't want to bother staff as price was decent for what we got, so they can't fix it you don't ask. I'm sure they would have moved us if asked.
All in all, lovely bar area and staff great - you get what you pay for! I will go back if price doesn't increase - even though I have been picky! Just being honest.
