About This Property

This charming, Basque farmhouse has been carefully converted into an attractive, rural hotel, enjoying stunning panoramic views over the regional capital of Bilbao. Set 5 km outside of Bilbao city centre, the Hotel Artetxe is located on a hilltop offering views over the smart coastal city below. The hotel buildings were converted to the hotel by the Artetxe family, who continue to run the hotel. Nowadays it blends original, typically Basque features with a fashionable, minimalist style and modern amenities.

Superb

Best of both worlds hotel with great views over the city & great access to the action.

Perfect location with expansive views over Bilbao. A short drive to the Funicular and a stroll across the river got us to the Guggenheim. Superb restaurant at the top.

Everything was as it should be. Our host was generous & informed. A great stay.

Comfortable hotel but quite isolated

Comfortable room with great view of Bilbao

No local amenities like convenience store within walking distance. No restaurants within walking distance that stay open beyond 20:00. Nothing on Mondays.

Lovely quiet hotel with a nice view over the city

It was my second time in this hotel and again a very nice experience. It is relatively close to the airport, just a short drive. You get a magnificent view over the city. Very quiet place. The hosts are friendly and helpful. It is very clean. The beds are perfect, not too soft, just good. There is a free parking. The breakfast is optional but very tasty and with a lot of choice.

Beautiful, quiet hotel with friendly staff and a beautiful location overlooking the city!

This is a beautiful little hotel overlooking the city of Blibao, with a family-feel. The staff is really nice and helpful! The room was big, nicely decorated, very comfortable and quiet as it is located in the "countryside" above the city. The breakfast was fresh and delicious. Lots of options, everything home-made. Everything was perfect! The hotel is located a close 5min by car from the funicular that takes you into town - it is approx. a 30min walk to get there. If you don't have a car (like me) just keep this in mind :) You can also walk up and down into/from the center which is a bit of a longer walk but you get nice views all the way.

Nice room - really really comfy bed - great view of the city.

A really modern and clean room with a great view. The breakfast was really good and we enjoyed the half hour walk down the hill into town. the staff were cheerful and friendly and it was nice to read a little about their family history at breakfast. The bed was really really comfortable and I slept better than I do at home..

The room was a little small.

Good for a short stay with car

We chose this hotel for easy parking and access to the city for a short visit. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was simple and clean. Plenty of easy parking and a short drive to the fun funicular to the center of town. Breakfast included many options including local pastries, yogurt, boiled egg, sandwiches, fresh fruit. Was perfect for our needs.

Our room didnt quite have the city view we expected but not a bad view.

Lovely hotel, great breakfast and a garden to sit in!

The room was lovely, nicely decorated, comfortable and warm. There is a really excellent buffet breakfast available for 10 euros per person; definitely recommended. We were travelling by car and appreciated the off road parking facilities. The hotel is out of the city centre, but there are buses every hour from outside. There is also the brilliant funicular railway, though that is a 30 minute walk. We very much enjoyed a bottle of their own wine, sitting in the garden on the evening of our arrival!

This is not the fault of the hotel! We had trouble actually finding the hotel, that is most likely because we didn't have any Sat Nav to guide us... Next time..
