Good central location. Excellent breakfasts.

I liked the location and general design of the hotel. Breakfasts in Prima were excellent. Unusual, quirky, somewhat industrial interior was memorable. Iron and ironing board a useful addition to the room. Bath robes and beds/bedding of high quality.

Notified the day before our stay that our room wouldnt be available until the day after our booking. Asked if we would go to sister hotel for first night. I refused and was told issue resolved. On arrival we were given an inferior room to the superior room booked but still charged the same. On complaining we were moved to the room we had booked the following day. So first days were not the best. There is no evening lounge or bar at the hotel so we couldnt relax with friends at the hotel in the evening. The daytime Prima Restaurant closes early eve and is not available in the evening - not even to sit in! Hanging and drawer space in our Superior room was inadequate for our needs. TV was not used as only a couple of English language news stations. If Bluetooth had been available to connect to TV screen we could have enjoyed the programmes from connecting to our iPhones. Hairdryer point not adjacent to mirror.

Great breakfast, staff, facilities. Cozy, little hotel, perfectly located. My server Christine went above and beyond making sure I was satisfied, as well as the others.

The matress had kind of a slump. I slept tight notwithstanding.

The hotel was double booked and we were moved to a sister hotel a 5 minute walk from Caja - the hotel Vine. We preferred the location of Caja but the Vine had a great rooftop pool and was a 5* hotel.

Exceptional

Stunning little hotel in the heart of Funchal with comfortable and exceptionally clean rooms. Hotel provided a nutritious breakfast that couldn't be missed. Will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Madeira.
