Staff were attentive and polite, hotel very clean, great food, will definitely be returning.

Range and quality of food available was very good. The facilities were excellent and even though the hotel was fully booked there was a lot of space available and there were no queues for anything. Really lovely break and ability to rest and relax. Would definitely return to Porto Bay Santra Maria.

The only issue was that on one day the buffet ran out of pastries, everything else was perfect.

Certainly up to the standards of the PortoBay chain--and I am not on the payroll!

As at all the PortoBay hotels I have stayed in on both sides of the Atlantic, the amenities were first-rate. The bed was great and the sheets of great quality. The room was spacious and had a nice balcony overlooking a park. Its also an added perk to join the PortoBay "Prestige Club" in that you get 10% off on anything you consume while at the hotel. I will continue to seek out PortoBay wherever I travel.

For dinner on site, I thought there was only a choice between a fulsome buffet and a truly basic bar menu. I guess most of the guests would go out to dinner anyway (as the hotel is right in old town). I finally realized that there was yet another menu in the main dining room (with the buffet) where one could order -la-carte. Maybe advertising that fact more fully would be a good idea--but all may have been my own lack of focus when I arrived.
