It was terrible and I wont be staying there in future visits to Lugano.

Location & breakfast very good.

I have stayed at Hotel International au Lac many times before to my utmost satisfaction but this time the bed & room were terrible. The most uncomfortable hotel bed ever which meant I wasn't able to sleep at all the night I stayed there! To add to my disappointment I wasn't even able to go to the excellent bar, which used to operate there, when I was unable to sleep. It was replaced by an unsatisfactory "Honesty Bar". There were, also no newspapers provided, which used to be a most enjoyable part of relaxing in the previous fully serviced Lounge Bar. The pool was too heavily chlorinated, which made it impossible to open ones' eyes when swimming and spoiled any possible enjoyment.

Exceptional

The location is amazing, right in front on Luganos lake and at the start of a fashionable street with well-known brands. The hotel has a pool and a good restaurant, there is car parking however it is a bit small. Perfect stay if you want to spend a couple nights in Lugano.

It was one of the best places during our trip. The staff were exceptionally friendly and respectful, and the complete breakfast and the beautiful scenery by the lake made everything perfect. I absolutely recommend it

Quiet and comfortable in a very central location

Very central location, by the lake and near bus station. The hotel has a garden and a pool, while in a very central location! Spacious and quiet room, old looking, but the hotel has this old vibe. Breakfast was excellent, and there were really a lot of options, hot and cold. Plenty of tasty fruits!

I guess we could keep the old looking vive while having a bit more modern furniture and bathroom equipement.
