Good hotel spoilt by front desk staff and pre-arrival scam-like correspondence.

Location is perfect, rooms kept very clean and are good sized.

Front desk team is awful, and pre-arrival they contacted me demanding payment in full up front to some random bank account, I felt certain they had been hacked and I was being scammed. Decided to show up anyway and not book an alternative hotel as their email made me think to do. Turns out this is just "what they do". No apology offered, even when I raised this on check in and check out. This aspect was totally unacceptable, which is a shame, as the hotel is great and location is great.

Exceptional

Stay in a beautiful, old style hotel with an interesting history.

Excellent property...location, service, value with an interesting history. My Rex Suite, #310, provided a small balcony where I was able to enjoy New Years Eve above the crowds. Had a clear view of the screen playing the live band at the other end of the boulevard. Plus, a great view of the fireworks. Excellent buffet breakfast too.

Bad

If you get put in the west wing when you have young children demand to move instantly to the east

Once I changed demanded to change rooms my room was clean and cleaned daily. The location is very central if that is what you need

My initial room was A)TINY B) expensive C) facilities are so old and out of date D) West wing has no security for elevator and it leads to bar, anyone can bang on your door, the west wing is more like a cheap hostel at best
