Could do with some renovation of paintwork both inside the room and in the restaurant and terrace. Evening menu was the same 6 dishes for the duration of our 15 night stay. Quality OK but a little expensive.

Lovely stay with great facilities in the winelands
Beautiful room, friendly staff, lovely communal areas, excellent breakfast, lovely pool. The smokehouse restaurant was excellent and the wine tasting was great too. I liked that they had a craft fair to buy souvenirs etc.
I thought the main restaurant could have been better. The food and service was average, which was a bit disappointing. We ate at the smokehouse for the rest of our stay which was far better.

18th , but worst visit.
The breakfast staff were as usual, outstanding. Friendly, efficient and deserved 10/10.
Sadly the Snr management dropped the ball. Made numerous attempts to give feedback to them and to at least get my room cleaned properly. Floor was disgustingly dirty, this never happened.
Bathroom floor absolutely filthy. Housekeeping constantly forgot to replace items, menu issues, but worst aspect, tried to get assistance from Snr management and they did not bother to return my messages, other than a very generic email reply from Res Manager, but no call back and none of the issues resolved.
In addition hotel is doing renovations, workers start really early, 7.30ish. Not ideal when you're on holiday.

Spier is spectacular and I will stay nowhere else in future.
There are no words to describe this magnificent place. If you are a nature/outdoor/runner/walker or just like to stroll this hotel is heaven on earth. I will stay nowhere else when I travel to this area. I walked both mornings of our stay and what an experience. It is also the ideal place to stay for runners as there are endless paths to run or walk. Vadas Smokehouse and Bakery is an absolute MUST. I've never tasted food like that it is incredible.
The accommodation needs an upgrade and does not do Spier justice. Upgrade if the bathrooms is a must, and the rooms can do with new furniture.

Most of the people were friendly and helpful and they have a lot to do. Our kids enjoyed the playground a lot. The breakfast was good as well.
Too much of a Disneyland feeling and the apartment buildings are without character. We did not like the dinner at the hotel restaurant and they had very little vegetarian options

Nice hotel with fantastic breakfast and great beds.
The beds were excellent and the breakfast was the best we had on our whole trip in South Africa. Simply great. The choices for dinner were solid at the main restaurant. The smokehouse that is also on the premises was only ok, and the staff a bit snappy. The whole area is beautiful and the free wine tasting and bottle you get for staying made us feel valued. You are a bit secluded, but this can be a good thing. The rooms even have small fireplaces if it gets cold.
The smokehouse was only ok and wifi had issues.

Very good
Great room size (Garden Terrace Room). The bed is so comfortable and good quality linen makes for a great nights sleep. Fantastic breakfast (with yummy baked goods from Vadas bakery), lovely property to explore (walking and cycling). Great security, very friendly and helpful staff throughout, every member of the Spier team goes the extra mile with a smile.
Wine tasting included with booking is a nice bonus. Loadshedding did not impact our stay.
Dinner menu very reasonable for a hotel and the food is wonderful.
The property was fully booked during our stay but it never felt too crowded or busy.
Spa treatments offered are great and well priced too.

The rooms especially the bathrooms are a bit dated and can do with a refresh. The towels are a bit tired too, fresh fluffy white towels will make all the difference.
Do wear shoes / the slippers provided when in the room as the floor gets very dusty and dirty. Garden outside the room terrace requires some attention.
